Type 1P – INMOULD Original, featuring PTAC™

Type 1P INMOULD Original graphics are fast, in-mould graphics with peel & stick application, mold-in using PTAC adhesive

Introducing our PTAC adhesive system, specifically developed for use with INMOULD Original and INMOULD X-Treme graphics. Read on to learn how to apply easy graphics to rotomoulded parts for brilliant and long-lasting results.

What is PTAC?

PTAC is the perfect solution for in-mould graphics that do not need cleaning, resulting in zero adhesive residues but still utilising the same popular-mould graphics with peel and stick application that PSI Brand has become known for.

PSI brand INMOULD graphics become fully moulded into your plastic product during the moulding cycle and finish perfectly flush with the surface. The addition of PTAC technology makes application even easier, and once moulded, the adhesive can simply be peeled from the face of the graphic, leaving no messy residue.

What is the application process of graphics for rotational moulding when using Type 1P – INMOULD Original with PTAC?

Step 1:
Ensure that the mould surface is clean and free from dust, powder particles and release agents, as these can all affect the appearance of your graphic once moulded.

Next, remove the backing from your graphic to expose the pre-coated self-adhesive side of the graphic. Do not apply any additional adhesive product to either the graphic or the mould surface.

Step 2:
Carefully apply the graphic to your selected part of the mould.

Step: 3
Using your hand, work from one end of the graphic to the other to avoid trapping any air, which will cause air bubbles in the graphic surface.

Step 4:
Use a hard rubber-faced roller to smooth the graphic onto the surface, to avoid trapping air and creating air bubbles in between the graphic and the surface. Apply even pressure over the entire graphic to ensure full contact of the adhesive with the mould surface. If correct adhesion is not achieved at this stage, small dimples or sunken areas may appear in the graphic once moulded.

Use this opportunity to check that graphic is correctly positioned – if not, it can be peeled from the mould, and then carefully reapplied.

Proceed with your moulding cycle, but avoid overcooking the material as this can cause the graphic pigments to discolour. When moulding large, open type products such as troughs and tanks that require large quantities of powder, you may need to reduce the rotation speed, or apply the graphic to a recess in the surface to optimise your results.

Step 5:
Once the moulding cycle is complete and you’ve removed your plastic part from the mould, you’ll notice that the adhesive backing has separated from the graphic. Remove the film from the surface and discard it, then admire your handiwork!

Does the self-adhesive have a residue?

No, the PTAC self-adhesive system doesn’t leave any residue at all, unlike other in-mould plastic branding methods.

Is there any cleaning involved?

Because there’s no adhesive residue, using INMOULD Original or X-Treme with PTAC peel-off adhesive removes the need for you to clean any residue from either the graphic or the mould.

Your new INMOULD graphics will also feature a superior level of resistance to harmful UV rays and harsh outdoor environments, as well as chemicals, physical abrasion and flames.
