INMOULD Original Application – Type 1
For the quick and easy branding of rotationally moulded plastic products using in-mould graphics, choose PSI Brand’s INMOULD graphic system. INMOULD self-adhesive graphics for roto-moulding are simply applied onto the interior surface of the mould, and become permanently embedded into the surface of your product during the moulding cycle. They’re our most popular product due to their incredibly simple application process.
Our Type 1 INMOULD solid graphics feature an opaque background that doesn’t allow any colour from your plastic part to show through the design. This self-adhesive branding solution is applied quickly and easily using our innovative peel and stick method.
Type 1 INMOULD Original application
Step 1
Prior to the application of your INMOULD graphics, ensure that the mould surface is clean and free from powder particles and release agents. Remove the white release paper from the graphic, exposing the pre-coated self-adhesive face of the graphic. Do not apply any additional adhesive to either the graphic or the mould surface.
Step 2
Carefully apply the graphic to the desired area of your mould. Our INMOULD graphics can be applied to both hot and cold moulds, however warming the mould surface will assist in the application. In cold regions, we recommend to not preload moulds with the following day’s loads.
Step 3
Using your hand, apply even pressure over the entire surface of the graphic from one end to the other, to remove any air bubbles that may become trapped underneath the graphic. Check that the graphic is correctly positioned – you can peel off and reapply if needed.
Step 4
Next, using a firm, rubber-faced roller, apply firm pressure over the entire graphic to ensure that the adhesive has full contact with the mould surface. If correct adhesion is not achieved, this may cause small dimples or sunken areas in the graphic that will affect its appearance after moulding.
Continue with your moulding cycle as usual. Avoid overcooking as this can cause the graphic pigments to discolour. In the case of large, open type products such as troughs and tanks that require large quantities of powder, you may need to reduce the rotation speed or apply the graphic to a recessed area in the mould.
Step 5
Once the moulding cycle is complete and you’ve removed your rotomoulded part from the mould, it is essential to remove any glue residue from the mould surface and the cooled finished product with PSI Brand Graphic Adhesive Remover. For best results, spray your adhesive remover over the residue and allow it to activate. Within ten to twenty seconds, the adhesive should start to globule – you can then scrape the adhesive away using a thin plastic squeegee and wipe away any excess using a clean, absorbent cloth. Avoid circular wiping or smearing of the residue.
For storage of unused graphics, keep in a dry, dust-free area, in the packaging supplied to keep them flat and avoid curling or damage.
Your INMOULD graphic is now permanently moulded to your plastic part and will stand up to anything you can throw at it. It features superior resistance to harmful UV rays, harsh outdoor environments, exposure to chemicals, surface abrasion, and many other demanding end-user applications.
